Frequently Asked Questions

Who can participate?

Any undergraduate student at the University of Dayton may participate. Students from any major and any experience level are welcome.

Do I need prior experience?

No. Prior experience in statistics, programming, or data analytics is not required. Curiosity and willingness to learn are enough.

Do I need a team before registering?

No. You may register with a team or register individually. Individual participants may request help with team matching.

How many students can be on a team?

Teams should have 2–4 students.

What tools can we use?

Teams may use tools of their choice, including R, Python, Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or AI-assisted tools.

Can we use AI tools?

Yes, but teams are responsible for understanding, explaining, and verifying their work. AI tools should support your analysis, not replace your reasoning.

When will the dataset be released?

The dataset will be introduced at the kickoff session on Monday at 6 PM. Find Timeline

What do teams submit?

Each team submits a written summary, maximum 2 pages, by Friday at 11 PM, and gives a short presentation on Saturday. Find Timeline

How long is the presentation?

Presentations are expected to be approximately 5 minutes, followed by Q&A with judges.
